I forgot to note that Quincy A. Cockerham was the son of Brambley TARVER (b. 1800 Barnwell Dist., South Carolina, d. abt 1852 in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana) and William Cockerham (son of Mary Valentine and Thomas Cockerham, grandson of "Old John" Cockerham of Amite Co., Mississippi). Brambley TARVER was the daughter of West TARVER and Nancy Cockerham (Nancy Cockerham was the daughter of "Old John" Cockerham). Quincy's wife, Demarius Cockerham was the dau. of James Cockerham and Elizabeth (nee) Cockerham. James Cockerham was the son of Nancy TARVER and John Cockerham, Jr. (another son of Old John). Elizabeth was the dau of Jane Demarius Chadwick and David Bent Cockerham, Sr. David Bent was also a son of "Old John" Cockerham. Family tradition has it that Mary Valentine was of Native American lineage, which nation I do not know. Would like to hear from anyone whose lineage intesects this family.
