My great-grandmother was Susan Ann Tarver born in Georgia. Her fathers name was Wiley Tarver...one of Susans daughters were names Sarah Augusta....I was wondering if they may have been connected with the Georgie Augustus Tarver family. Melva Higgins MLHronnie@aol.com

According to the Alcander Tarver manuscript, Etheldred Jordan Tarver and his wife Harriet Jane McNair had [among others] sons Robert Martin Tarver [b 1841] and John R. Tarver [no dates given]. Robert married Mary Ann Denton. John R. Tarver married Martha Burson and had Jane Rebecca Tarver. Could John R. Tarver be John Robert Tarver? I have Noah [Smith?] Tarver marrying Narcissa Youngblood. Noah died in GA in 1892 according to one family member, now deceased. I believe that Noah was a son of <my> Mark Tarver [Sr], but Alcander Tarver's manuscript puts him in the family of Robert Tarver, son of Etheldred Tarver who married Nancy Robinson. Unfortunately with this manuscript no sources are mentioned, except the possibility of an old Bible record. I can not believe that that record could have had listed ALL the Tarvers given in the manuscript. Nowheres in her manuscript does Alcander have anything on Mark Tarver's family since he was not directly connected to the Etheldred Tarver line. His obit stated that he had 12 or 13 children. I have assumed that the Tarvers grouped around each other [and my ancestor Oliver HP Byne] in Burke Co GA were his children. One son for sure was Roberson [or Robert] Tarver, b 18 Apr 1825. who married Florence Auly Burdick. Mark's obit was among the family Bible records for the Roberson Tarver family. Two other sons of Mark Tarver [Sr], Thomas Tarver who had children born in Texas, and Mark A. Tarver, went to Texas. A son of Mark A. Tarver, Wilson Tarver married Elizabeth Youngblood, then the widow of Wilson's uncle Allen Tarver, and moved to Birmingham AL. Based on my premise that the children of Mark and Sarah [Greenway] Tarver were grouped around each other in Burke Co GA, I list Caroline ["Carrie" who married Oliver Hazard Perry Byne-my ancestors], Thomas, Noah [Jr] , Roberson, Etheldred ["Dred"], Mark A., John N. and Oliver G. There were at least two other children of Mark by his first wife Eva Arden, one of whom was Allen Tarver. Some of the above has not been confirmed and is simply taken from correspondence fron Tarver cousins over 20 or so years. If anyone else has FIRM evidence to refute my conclusion about the family of Mark Tarver [Sr], I would very much appreciate hearing. Thanks. Looking for info on Wiley R. Tarver who married a Bass. Lived in Catahoula parish, LA. Don't know where he came from. I know of one son, Monroe Tarver. Thanks Tonya Salter
Robby - et. al - Regarding John Robert Tarver, born GA, 1830s (brother Robert Tarver who married a Narcissus) I have lots of Tarver information from the Burke County, Richmond County GA area. Nothing fits exactly, but there might be some clues in here. Specifically: John R. Tarver, born about 1843, son of Etheldred J. Tarver (est 1810 - after 1870) and Harriet Jane McNair ( est 1818, - after 1870) Etheldred J and Harriet were married 5 Feb 1835 in Richmond Co, GA. Their other known children were: Mary R, Etheldred, Nancy M, Robert M, John R, Sarah G and Jasmin. (Note: most of this is from census records) and I have no other information beyond 1850(Richmond Co, GA) and partial 1870 census (Whitfield Co, GA) Also have: John Robinson Tarver, born about 1799, died 4 Jan 1842 , buried in Blythe, GA. He married Elizabeth Shaw (11 Jan 1805 - 27 Sept 1880) on 9 Jan 1824. Their known children: Margaret Ann (1825-1897), Robert Ruffin (1826=1849); Margaret Mabel (est. 1827 - ?); Elizabeth Jane (est. 1830 - ?): Eleanor Maria (1832-1854); and Emma Anderson - (est. 1834 - ?) I know that Eleanor Maria Tarver (1832-1854) married Robert T. Wall on 17 Jan 1853. I have: Robert Tarver (est. 1803) married Ava Smith 7 Jun 1822in Richmond Co, GA. They had: Nancy 1826-1829; Etheldred Clayton (1827--1906); Noah Smith (1833-1892); Robert B (1837-1861); Smith S (1838 - ?) and Winnefred C (est. 1839 - ?). Of note: Noah Smith Tarver married Narcissa Youngblood about 1852. They had Benjamin Ruffin, James Elhannon, Julia Smith and Lula Florence) I have 'collected' these Tarvers over the years, although I am not connected to most of them - The families are mixed, mingled and confusing and most of the family groups have come from census information -Therefore, the assignment to given parents requires further verification. Some of the information is from wills/probate. I know some of this family went to Texas - don't know if there was a stop in Mississippi. Pat

Does anyone (maybe Lotus) know whether the Tarvers that ended up in Amite County, Mississippi move from Georgia through Lafayette County, Mississippi? I am the desc. of John Robert Tarver, b. in Georgia in the 1830s (I think), and had a brother named Robert Tarver who married a Narcissus. They were all living in Yalobusha County, in the 1860 Mississippi Census. Does anyone have this line? I don't think I could make that meeting either, because my cousin is gettin married that day. Liberty is the county seat of Amite County. If you're in Oxford, Lafayette County ... then you are up at the northern in of the state while Amite County is close to the 'boot' of Louisiana. You can check online at www.mapquest.com for specific directions, but it's probably about 250 miles from you, I'm guessing. I was in Liberty last week, and I have only good things to say about the people at the courthouse where I reviewed a ton of files. They were wonderful. The Liberty courthouse is the oldest in the state that was not burned, so they have excellent records and the files there are in good order as three couples from LDS just spent the last year and one half recording everything there. I also visited a number of cemeteries and will be adding photos online at Tarver-Gen as time allows. I will be scanning a lot of the records to make them available also. I'm trying to arrange my schedule to go back for this meeting. Can't say yet if I can take the time off again so soon :) If I can make the trip, and anything I already copied is helpful to you AND you have your copier with you, you are welcome to copy from my newly acquired files, which will save you the time of going through these particular files at the courthouse. I checked my husbands lines that go back to something like 130 AD and no loveday. I also checked another Falch line that I found looking for my ancestors and no loveday there either. I wish I could help. I know the frustration all too well. --- Joyce Jackson <jjak@lcc.net> wrote: > Hi, > > I'm sorry but I have no Georgie or Augustus TARVER > in my name file. Hi, I'm sorry but I have no Georgie or Augustus TARVER in my name file. Do you ever run across the name LOVEDAY in your research? I have a friend in TN researching that name and she is looking for a lost LOVEDAY who went to TX. Thanks, Joyce Jackson At 10:07 AM 7/8/99 -0700, you wrote: >Looking for information on Georgie Augustus (or >Augusta) Tarver. I have spellings of her name as >Tarver, Tarber, and Tarlver. Looking for information on Georgie Augustus (or Augusta) Tarver. I have spellings of her name as Tarver, Tarber, and Tarlver. All I know about her is that she had several sons and at least one daughter. My grandfather was born in Georgia in 1900 so she was in Georgia at that time. She married a Thomas Henry Lancaster. _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com
