Granfather married a Lofton. There is a listing in Franklin County, Ms. of a Nathaniel Tarver Marrying a June Lofton on March 31, 1835. So far I cannot find anything else about this couple. For the children of Jennings Tarver and Lorenia Burt, James Walter Tarver's wife was Prudence Priscilla Westbrook, dau. of Richard Dunkin Westbrook and Julena Jane Coward. (Coward is also my line). For Mary Ann Tarver & Zachariah Lofton, their son, Ike Lofton married Mary Magdalene Ratcliff instead of Magdaleina. She was my grandfather's (Benjamin David Ratcliff's) sister. Their daughter Anna md. Odis Woodall and Etheline was (or is?) Anna & Odis' daughter. Ike & Mary Magdalene Lofton's daughter, Mayfred, who is my 1st cousin once removed married my grandmother's (Mary Donis Lewis Ratcliff's) brother, Theodore Bilbo "Theo" Lewis. So Mayfred is my great Aunt on the Lewis side (by marriage) and is my 1st cousin once removed on the Ratcliff side. Then if you go further back, John Benjamin Ratcliff married Abigail Lofton and we are related by that also, like 4th or 5th cousins. Something like that. We always laugh about the ways we are related. Aunt Mayfred just got out of the hospital recently and is 84 years old. She had a kidney removed due to kidney cancer, but is I think doing well. My sister visited her the other day and said that she is doing alright for all that she has gone through. She lives in Baton Rouge (I am in Denham Springs). The only identifiable graves are for Jobe Tarver (b. Mar. 7,1867 d. June 21, 1933) and Olive Rozilla Tarver (B. Dec. 4, 1866 , D. Nov. 12 , 1899) . and also a grave for Callie Addison Edwards (b. 1862, d. 1898) . According to the Forest Service these are the only graves there . Do you have any knowledge concerning this gravesite ? It appears to be a Family Burial Plot . Maybe they had a Homestead in the area ? The following information was provided to me by fellow researchers, Debbie Richard and Lorris Cockerham, some of which is included in Tarver Gen. Lorris restates that Jackson Cockerham was the son of David and Jane Chadwick Cockerham. David s/o John,Sr. from Barnwell Co. SC. The strongest clue was provided by Debbie. She stated "Jane D .Cockerham (of Catahoula Pa. La.) was in Union Co. Ar. in 1848 giving power of attorney to a Claiborne Watson to handle her and her three unmarried daughter's share of the estate of her deceased husband, David." There is quite a bit more, but I think this is enough to get the idea across. Primarily, what we have done is track David and family to Union County from the East and Henry J. to Union County from the West. It's odd that we can't find any thing on Jackson after Union Co. and nothing on Henry J. before Union Co. If the J. in Henry's name stood for Jackson, it would probably satisfy me that the mystery was solved. I'm hoping, Lotus, that you may have come across something in your research to tie them together. I think Debbie and Lorris have concluded they are the same. The circumstances sure point that direction but I hate these little nagging doubts. I have sent off for Henry J.'s John David's military records but have'nt gotten them yet.
