Dachsen church records were maintained by Laufen Parish of Laufen, Ct. Zürich, and includes baptisms, marriages, deaths, communicants and church census. Includes Uhwiesen, Nohl and Dachsen. Church records 1562-1875 have been filmed by LDS and may be ordered in for viewing at your local FHC. Russell: I used a few abbreviations here you may not be familiar with. If so, let me know and I will explain in English without abbreviations. To get the film numbers you need to order in, go to any one of the following websites. I list more than one because sometimes you keep getting error messages saying "This page cannot be displayed." When that happens, or if a page is slow opening (I call it "unresponsive"), just try one of the other webpages I list: Here are the websites: ===== Locations filmed by LDS http://www.genealogienetz.de/reg/CH/kibu/#ENGLISH http://www2.genealogy.net/gene/reg/CH/ldsloc-m.htm http://german.genealogy.net/gene/reg/CH/ldsloc-m.htm ===== Once you arrive at one of these websites, just scroll down until you come to Canton Zuerich. Then search within Canton Zuerich until you come to Laufen, the parish that maintained the church records for Dachsen. From there it's just a matter of following the prompts until you come to a little grey sign in the upper right corner that promts you to click on it to get the film numbers of the microfilm you want to view. Most records, birth - baptism - marriage - death, will be recorded back to 1562. Prior to that you use land and notorial records back to mid-1400's. Get back with me when you are ready for that procedure. Also, you might check out the Ellis Island Project's website for the manifest you mentioned in your question number two. Go to: ===== Ellis Island Project http://www.ellisislandrecords.org/ ===== If that doesn't work out for you (but it should), try one of these: ===== CIMO - Cimorelli Immigration Manifests Online http://www.cimorelli.com/safe/shipmenu.htm ===== -OR- ===== Passenger & Ships Lists http://www.netmender.net/genelogy/passlist.html ===== -OR- ===== ONLINE SEARCHABLE PASSENGER LISTS http://www.angelfire.com/ks/windshipgenhelp/shiplist.html ===== Pete Mattli SSD Admin [email protected] [3-ggg's] ======================== Subj: [SWITZ] Surname Rubli Date: 10/27/2002 11:50:39 AM Eastern Standard Time From: <A HREF="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</A> To: <A HREF="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</A> Sent from the Internet (Details) I know of one ancestor with the surname 'Rubli' who was born in Dachsen in the canton of Zurich in 1866. In searching "swiss.genealogy.net" I found the Rubli name in the Dachsen list of families with citizenship prior to 1800. How can I now get information of the family going back from 1866 to previous Rubli's? Second question: I know that the person born in 1866 and her sister came to this country in 1881, traveling from Le Havre to New York. How does one get information about steamship lines, boat names, etc.? I will appreciate any information, leads, etc. that anyone has.
