Iam looking for information on the Weishaar family as well as the LeDoux Family. I am trying to find the names of my great great great great great Grandparents. Ignatz Weishaar's parents and Johanna LeDoux- Weishaar's parents. Fact: From a newspaper clipping I have this. On the journey to the new world the Weishaar Family set sail on St. Joseph's day March 19, 1844. On Pentecost day it snowed, and that night they passed an ice berg that lifted it's snowy everst above the water about the height of St. Mary's steeple. They arrived in Chicago on July 4th, 1844, and at that time the windy City was little more than a swamp in the prairie. And soon after they arrived, they settled on a farm in Rich township, Cook County, ILLINOIS. The LeDoux family traveled on the same ship as did the Weishaars. Fact: From birth, death, etc., records I have this. Ignatius(Ignatz) was 13 years old when he came to the US. He was born Feb 16, 1831 in Schoenenburg Alsace Lor. France(Germany). He has a cousin Peter Weishaar. He married Johanna LeDoux on April 5, 1853, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Chicago. Johanna with her family was on the same ship as the Weishaars. Johanna LeDoux was born Feb. 14, 1834 in Rosebenz Switzerland. She was 10 years old when she came to the US. On her bothers(Bernard Ledoux) death record says parents are from France, mother's maiden names was Snell. Johanna gave birth to a daughter Francisca Weishaar born Dec. 11, 1853 in Richton, ILLINOIS. Ignatz and his family moved to Joliet, ILLINOIS in 1856. Ignatz and Johanna had 15 children. Some born in Rich township others in Joliet. All I do know is Johanna's mother's maiden name was Snell per death record. Also Johanna's brother Bernard LeDoux,also moved to Joliet with them. He was born in 1844 in Switzerland, so he was a baby when they came. Johanna's and Bernard's parents must of moved from France to Switzerland both Johanna and Bernard were born in Switzerland. Miki
