Dear Earnie, I was surprised several years ago when I visited western Wisconsin to see taht the "Mother or All Rivers" flooded the way it did. I do remember that near Fountain City, WI, there were many tombs of Swiss origin ( Ticino, Valais, but mostly Swiss-German) who were buried in hills overlooking the Misssissippi. Now, I understand that the remaining Families did not particularly wish to see their loved ones float down to New Orleans and into the sea.........
