I am one of the Mishler family historians in America. There are a few of us that have compiled significant data on the Mishler, Mischler family that arrived in Pennsylvania in 1749. None have yet been able to find any information on the family past that time. The Mischler family was connected with the Zug family in Thun, Switzerland. The families were the Amish/Mennonites who came to America. Data also states that a few of Joseph Mischler's children were born in Baden/Durlach Germany. I suppose enroute to the New World. A bit of information was discovered (and the source since lost) That has a Nicholas Mieschler Von Durrenroth Listed as an anabaptist dissenter in the mid 1500's. I know this family's history must go back for centuries but accessable information seems limited to the 1749 time frame and forward. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. I would like to connect with a Mischler, Mishler Genealogist or Historian in Switzerland as well, Thanks for all your help, Darryl Mishler
Dear Darryl; I have a copy of the book "Eighteenth Century Emigrants From the Northern Alsace to America," by Annette Kunsleman Burgert, FGSP, FASG. Entry number 358 on pages 365-366 contains information on the family of Ullrich Mischler who arrived on the Phoenix in 1749 from Keskastel=67260 Sarre-Union (Alsace, France). It gives information on his marriage to Eleonora Magdalena Müller on 9 Mar. 1745 at Keskastel. (He was the son of Hans Missler from Switzerland). Also information on the births of children, Maria Louisa and Johannes, as well as land transactions and naturalization. If this is your family, contact me off-list and I will copy the information for you. Regards, Norma H.
