Can anyone tell me how to find records for Alton Switzerland or Dullican Switzerland?? These are the two places my ARNOLD family were born. Judy

Hello Judy, according to the Swiss Surname Book (Schweizer Familiennamenbuch) your ARNOLDs were citizens of Dulliken, SO (Kanton Solothurn) already before 1799. In the city of Solothurn, SO they are mentioned as far back as 1546. There is no "Alton" mentioned for Switzerland, nor among "Heimatort" (places of origin) for ARNOLD. However there is a town called Alten in Kanton Zürich (ZH), but not as a Heimatort for ARNOLD. In addition, the ARNOLDs are found holding citizenship before 1799 in several other Kanton: Luzern (LU) Uri (UR) Wallis (VS) Thurgau (TG) Aargau (AG) Zürich (ZH) If you wish, I'll scan the entire list of Heimatort's where ARNOLDs held citizenship to you separately.
