I joined this group due to the fact that a surname that I am working on is possibly from Switzerland or that region. The name has been listed as Deibelbesin, Debelbesin, Teufelbesin, Dreibelbesin, & about 5 other spellings. They settled on Devilbiss & Divelbiss the second generation here in America. The background of the surname is a group of children came on the ship "Britannia" to Philadelphia in 1731. They settled in the Old Monocacy section of Maryland & Pennsylvania. They were named: Johan Michael, Magdalena, Johan Georg, Margarita Elizabeth Barbara, Casper. They listed being born in Baden, with one being born in Alsace. Thank you for any help you can provide.
