I am seeking information on ancestors of Daniel SCHWAB of Muentschemier, Switzerland, DOB and DOD unknown. He had two daughters, names and dates unknown, and three sons: Randolph, Fred, and Jake Schwab, dates unknown. Jake Schwab (wife's name unknown) had seven children living at the time of his death: Mary/Marry, Lena, Froina, Louise, John, Frank, and Will. My line runs from Mary Schwab: Mary (also spelled Marry) SCHWAB, DOB Aug. 10, 1830, in Muentschemier; m. Jacob NICKLAUS, a German living near Muentschemier who was a cabinetmaker; Jacob died during the U.S. Civil War in 1860 or 1863 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, U.S., leaving Mary and five children in Switzerland. Mary immigrated to Madison, Indiana, U.S. sometime after her husband's death, accompanied by either her grandfather, Daniel SCHWAB, or her father, Jake SCHWAB. Jacob Nicklaus and Mary Schwab Nicklaus' five children were: John A. Nicklaus, DOB Oct. 25, 1855; was adopted by a Mr. Snider near Madison, Indiana, U.S.; m. Emma Watlington Oct. 28, 1886; DOD Jan. 21, 1933; Fred Nicklaus (a twin), DOB July 17, 1862; Charlie (a twin), DOB July 17, 1862; William, DOB Sept. 13, 1857; Marry, dates unknown; was adopted by a family named Smith. Any information on the Schwabs will be greatly appreciated. Also any suggestions as to likely ports of embarkation for Swiss citizens traveling to the United States. Thank you.
