My Grandmother Jeanne Henriette Morel was born in the Town of Divonne, Canton of Gex-France February 23, 1890. She was a resident of Geneve Switzerland though. Her daughter Andre Paul Paule? Zurkinden ( I am unsure of the spelling for the correct gender ) was born May 5th, 1914 in Tientsin, China. She was supposedly named after her father who was supposed to have been working and living in China as a Architectural Engineer. He was supposed to have been Swiss/German or German. However I have no proof of his nationality. I have written to Zurich and they wrote me back that they are unable to locate (Father) Andre Paul Zurkinden. I have no proof that he existed except that my Grandmothers marriage certificate to my Grandfather Ernest Henry Oliver states in writing her former married name was Zurkinden. I am looking for a marriage certificate ( I have no idea what year ) or even a death certificate or even a birth certificate for Andre, her daughter. Mr. Zurkinden was supposed to have died around the latter part of 1913 or early 1914 in China and that is why my Grandmother married my Grandfather. My Grandmother married my Grandfather, an Englishman in All Saints, Tientsin, China October 29, 1914, 5 months after Andres birth. I am unable to find any written trace of her! My mother told me she married a Robert McCormick who was in the military ( do not know what branch of service ) and they were stationed in Louisiana. Andre died in around 1963-1970 there but again I have not been able to find any records so far though I am still looking. Any advice is very much appreciated.
