I am researching my ancestral Huntzickers. The 1870 Wisconsin census lists my great-great Grandfather as Jacob HUNSICKER, although the 1880 census lists his surname as HUNTZICKER. He lists his birthplace as Steffelbach, SW (born 11-05-1826; died02-08-1910 in WI). His wife’s gravestone lists her name as Dorothy Kemerly(Kemmerline) (born 01-17-1828; died 08-10-1895 in WI ), but another source lists her name as Maria Dorthea Magdalena Kimmerle Huntzicker, and the 1870 WI census lists her first name as Regina and her country of origin as Wurtemberg. Their eldest son is listed in the 1870 WI census as August Huntzicker, with birthplace as Pliezhausen(County of Reutlingen), Wuerttemberg (born 12-22-1851). The family settled inWisconsin in the 1850’s and ultimately included the children, Jacob II, HeLena, William,Emma, Mary, Louisa, and Mina. I have more information on the family after they reached the U.S. but am looking for information on the Swiss/Wuerttemberg origins.
