There are so many to choose from. Each package will have their own pros and cons. Most software vendors will let you try it out for 30-60 days with a money-back guarantee. But sometimes we get so busy, we really don't check it out throroughly enough. Suggestion: Try the free ones, like Personal Ancestral File 4.0.3 which can be downloaded from the LDS Church FamilySearch website store. Start at: http://www.familysearch.org/ click on "Order Family History Resources" (left side) click on "Software Downloads - Free" (3rd up from bottom) click on item 36100999 - Personal Ancestral File 4.0.3 English/Spanish best wishes, Dave Schmutz -----Original Message----- From: Samy Khalid-Sengstag [mailto:sk_sengstag@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, December 07, 1999 3:23 PM To: SWITZERLAND-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SWITZ] Family Tree Software Hi Robert, I have been using Generations Grande Suite (from Sierra) for a year now, and I still love it. This is definitely a good software I would recommend. What was really important for me when I bought it was to be able to input all the accents and special characters I needed. Another priority was that the system had to accept "special" situations, ie several weddings, adopted children, unknown or unproven parentage, etc. Go visit Sierra's website for yourself. You'll get a better idea of what they offer. It must be very user-friendly, able to insert family pictures, able to add comments about each person, doesn't cost an arm and a leg, able to insert files from other sources, etc. Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated. thanks, robert rothenbuhler new braunfels, texas piepint@nbtx.com
