Swiss Rooters, This is not about genealogy. Just memories. Each Christmas Eve, mom would cut a large onion in half, top to bottom. She would then take 12 of the shells and place them on a tray. By each shell, she wrote a month of the year from Jan thru Dec. When everyone was ready to go to bed, she put a teaspoon of salt into each shell. On Christmas morning, looking at the amount of liquid, she would indicate which months in the coming year would be dry and which were wet. I remember some leaves were overflowing while the one next to it was dry as a bone. Has anyone else done or seen this? In my old age, Christmas time brings back wonderful memories.
