Hi. I'm new on the list and am attempting to find where in Switzerland my ancestors came from and from which port they left to come to America. I know that my gr. grandfather, Frederick Wechter (Wachter) was born in Laugerville, Canton Berne, SW on 17 Oct 1836. His wife was Elizabeth Nussbaum (Neusbaum, Nussbaumer) who was born on 30 Jul 1843 in Wayne Co., OH but whose family originated somewhere in SW. Her father was Jakob Nussbaumer. I'm also looking for gg grandparents Peter Wachter and Maria Zumback; dates of birth unknown in SW. Other family names from SW are Elizabeth Liechti (dob 25 Nov 1814) whose father was Christian Liechti and mother was Barbara Moser. Also have ggg grandparents with names of Urs Nussbaumer and Katharina Gyger. Can someone tell me how I might find where in SW these families came from and also where to find the ports from which Frederick Wechter and the Nussbaumer families left to come to America?
