Karen : Yes Swiss Surnames indeed does have only one listing for Fete(with umlaut over first e> Canton Bern - Cortebert (from before 1800). That is where to start. Check to see if the church records have been filmed by the Family History Center . They have filmed in the last few years all but sixteen parishes in Bern so probably yours has been filmed.
