Hello Everyone, So far, I can trace my line through Peter Donier and Maria Bardill married 1833, Christian Donier and Maria Florinin married 1784, and maybe Georg Donier and Ursula Casparin married 1758. Peter had several brothers and sisters. As far as I know, Peter and Maria are the only ones who came to America in 1845. Peter and Maria came with their 2 year old son Christian and settled in Madison County, Illinois. Then, Peter went back to Switzerland for some unknown reason, leaving his family there. Can anyone make a connection to this line? I have a feeling that this line is connected with the Buttes, Neuchatel area, because there seems to be quite a few Doniers in that area in the 1700's. I just haven't gotten that far yet. Also, can anyone tell me if there are any Donier's still in the Klosters area? I know that there was a Joel Donier born 1847 and a Georg Donier born 1856 in Klosters. I was wondering if there might be any of their descendants still living. If you have a good idea of what area your family came from in Switzerland, the Church of Latter Day Saints microfilm is a real jewel. All you have to do is find the nearest Family Resource Center and order the microfilm you need. The only cost to you is the cost of shipping and your time. Their internet site, www.familysearch.com, lists all the available microfilm. I didn't ever think I could find so much. The records may be intimidating at first because of the handwriting, but stick to it. Lisa Woods
