There is no mention on the origin of the surname - just a short note that Ehrenzeller had been citizens of St.Gallen (the city) since about 1510 : details on individuals can be found in "Stemmatologia Sangallensis", a genealogical collection started in 1733 (retrospectively to early 16th century) and continued until 1876 (when the civil registry system was set up).
