I have a question regarding how names are recorded. Someone was searching for their grandfather who changed his name. Many Swiss were known by their middle name not given name -- even in the US. One name is on a tombstone, a different name on a birth certificate. In these cases, what is recommended for recording names in a family tree? I have been using the birth certificate and then AKA (also known as). It looks strange if you know the person when you view the family tree. Are there other ways to record or handle this? Thanks Claire
