It is up along the northern border of the Canton with Lichtenstein and Austria bordering it on the north. It stretches from just to the east of Landquart (where the Landquart River joins the Rhine) east past Schiers, then tending more southeasterly to Klosters. One branch of the river trends south towards Davos from there, I'm not sure if the Swiss consider that part of the Prätigau valley or not. The name is believed to be possibly linked to the tribe living in the area in Roman times. Regards, Mike Hobart
