I would much appreciate some info on the meaning of belonging to this council of 200, in Geneva. I've consulted several books on the meanings of various 'Civic positions' in Geneva in the past but my mind is still unclear as to what these councils refer to. Obviously it infers that the holder of this title had reached a certain position in genevese society to warrant being elected to this body-but what was it? Peter
