    3. Terri, According to the Zürcher Familiennamen, a Ulrich Ernst married a Elisabeth Peter from Wiesendangen in 1658 and this name is common in several villages. Have you checked the following to determine where the name originated if not in the city of Zürich? Try the Swiss surname Directory at; http://iseli.simplenet.com/SSD/ If in fact Felix was born in the city of Zürich in 1705 then he might show up in the Zürich census for 1709/1710. You need to check the LDS microfiche and films under the title # TITLE Bevolkerungsverzeichnisse der Synode ZURICH 1633-1767 = Population registers of the Zurich Synod 1633-1767. PUBLICATION INFORMATION Zurich : Staatsarchiv, 1971. The best way to access the Zürich census records is to order the microfiche which has the index of the above 20 films LDS # 6001309 (best to check this number). This microfiche gives an alphabetical index to the films and the years that they cover. Most census records on these films have ages of all individuals, sometimes broken down into extended family members and sometimes even broken down into sections of the particular village. The census records are very useful in cross reference against the BDMs. Cheers John Eichholzer, Canberra, Australia -----Original Message----- From: terri quinn <quinndt@adamswells.com> To: SWITZERLAND-L@rootsweb.com <SWITZERLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, 28 December 1999 9:19 Subject: [SWITZ] Fw: SWITZERLAND-D Digest V99 #480 > >-----Original Message----- >From: terri quinn <quinndt@adamswells.com> >To: SWITZERLAND-L@rootsweb.com <SWITZERLAND-L@rootsweb.com> >Date: Monday, December 27, 1999 5:14 PM >Subject: Re: SWITZERLAND-D Digest V99 #480 > > >> >>I'm looking for information on Felix Ernst he was born in Zurich, >>Switzerland, in 1705. 1. [SWITZ] MUSTER/KUNZLER (KUNTZLER? KOENSLER?) FAMILIES
    2. I am researching my Swiss ggrandparents: Samuel MUSTER, b. 1821, and Suzanna KUNZLER (KUNTZLER? KOENSLER?, KOERNSLER?), b. 1829, who left Basel together probably in early 1860s (the story we have is that her family did not approve of Samuel). They may have married in Bremen, Germany, just before sailing for New York on May 16, 1864. They eventually made their way to Valparaiso, IN. Their daughter Sophia was my grandmother. I will be grateful for any information that might identify these families, especially any living members still in Switzerland. Thank you.

    2. Hi listers, I am trying to research the Johann Fink family from Gossliwil, Solothurn, Switzerland. Any information on all family members would be appreciated. 3. Dear All, Again the "list" comes through. I wish to thank everyone for the response to my query regarding the location of "Moosaffoltern". It appears that it is about one mile SW of Bangerten in the canton of Bern without it's own parish, and therefore doesn't appear on recent maps. Thanks again everyone - I again appreciate your help. Regards, Mel Schwartz <schwartz@jps.net> Orangevale, CA Researching the names of SCHWARTZ, BAUMGARTNER, HENDRICKS, TERRY, EVANS, and DAGGY. 2. Dear Mel: Looking at some of the parish records of other villages around Moosaffoltern [Dieterswil (BE)], it appears they show up in the registers for Messen in canton SO (Solothurn) - the cantonal border is very close by. This is what the LDS FHL Catalog said for Messen SO: "......Includes Balm, Brunnenthal, Gächliwil, Oberramsern in Kt. Solothurn and Bangerten, Etzelkofen, Mülchi, Ruppoldsried and Scheunen in Kt. Bern." http://www.familysearch.org/fhlc/supermainframeset.asp?display=titledetails& titleno=451043 and for Bangerten (the closest village to Dieterswil): "Parish baptisms of the Protestant Reformed Church congregation of Bernisch Messen, comprising Bangerten bei Dieterswil, Etzelkofen, Mülchi, Ruppoldsried, and Scheunen, Ct. Berne, Switzerland. Events recorded outside the parish are usually not in chronological order. Most volumes contain their own indexes. Messen, at one time administered by Ct. Solothurn and Ct. Berne, is now wholly part of Ct. Solothurn." http://www.familysearch.org/fhlc/supermainframeset.asp?display=titledetails& titleno=777106 All the cantonal village listings in the LDS FHL Catalog can be accessed from SwissGen's LDS Locality Catalogue Switzerland webpage at: http://swiss.genealogy.net/ldsloc-m.htm best wishes, Dave Schmutz -----Original Message----- From: Seelentag Wolfhart Dr. KSSG_RO [mailto:wolf.seelentag@kssg.ch] Sent: Monday, December 27, 1999 2:50 AM To: SWITZERLAND-L@rootsweb.com Subject: AW: [SWITZ] Moosaffoltern Dear Mel, as far as postal services is concerned, Moosaffoltern belongs to 3256 Dieterswil (Kanton Bern) - which doesn't show up in "Verzeichnis der Kirchenbuecher des Kantons Bern (SGFF 1997) - so it doesn't seem to be a parish of their own; to my surprise, it's not mentioned as belonging to another parish either :-(. I would guess your best bet is Bolligen. You could try <LPAG@LPAG.CH> which is a community administration of some kind.
