The Sweet DNA project has, as one of its goals, the connection of the various Sweet lines to their ancestral homes. One way to do that, of course, is to find Sweets still living in the Old World and verify that they are genetically linked to a line in the New. However, there is another way: emigrants in the 19th century to places like Australia, New Zeeland, Canada, and the United States often left a record of their place of origin, and the descendants of those emigrants can therefore serve as tracers almost as well as people who never left at all. What's more, descendants of emigrants usually are much more interested in genealogy than the stay-at-homes. Thus the question: are you such a descendant, or do you know of one? We could use you in the project. (Specifically, we need male Sweets because the project tests the Y chromosome.) There is a time constraint here. We have a pool of subsidy funds to help pay for the testing, but half of the pool will expire at the end of December. If you are thinking about joining, please try to make up your mind very soon.
