I have recently come across a birth certificate, listing Albert M. Sweet as the mother of Thelma Agnes Hamilton, b. 1901, Portland, ME. The father was Fred S. H. (or E.) Hamilton, also born around 1872, at Chebeague Island. A thorough scouring of available online census data, marriage records, etc, has yielded squat on Alberta. Fred connects to the massive Hamilton lines of Chebeague Island, and most of Cumberland County. On the birth certificate for Thelma, her mother is listed as born in Auburn, yet I can find no trace of her, at least as Alberta! Is there any Swett, etc researcher who may be able to point me in the right direction? Or, anyone in the Auburn area who has access to vital records for that city/town, back in the early 1870's? As the census record for 1910 indicates, this was Alberta's first marriage, so, for the most part, I've eliminated consideration of Sweet, etc, being a married name. However, we all know census records are far from absolute. Anyway, looking forward to corresponding with anyone who might offer possibilities, clues, guesses, even hard evidenciary facts on the origins of this mysterious Alberta. Many Thanks, Jared (Nashua, NH)
