    1. Re: Joseph and Elizabeth Sweet in 1860
    2. I am writing in response to Larry's inquiry regarding Joseph and Elizabeth Sweet in the 1860 Philadelphia census: 1870 Philadelphia (Ward 20, District 66), 201 Joseph 'Sweets' 55 William 15 There were no other family members listed. However, this was a second enumeration that seems to be incomplete. The first enumeration is also indexed, but I could not find the family there. There was also a Joseph Sweet listed in the 1880 census (Philadelphia, ED 404, Sheet 276C). Perhaps the piece of information most intriguing is that there is Civil Ward record of a Joseph Sweet (with wife Elizabeth) who served in the 28th PA Infantry, Co. D. This unit was formed in Philadelphia in 1861. There were Civil War invalid and widow pensions filed for this man and his wife. Those files, available from the National Archives, might provide the information you are missing.

    3. This is great information ... thanks a million. I will bird dog the records. However, I am not sure about being related to a Yankee soldier :-) Larry in Texas ----- Original Message ----- From: <pksweet@juno.com> To: <SWEET-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 05, 2004 2:01 PM Subject: Re: Joseph and Elizabeth Sweet in 1860 > > I am writing in response to Larry's inquiry regarding Joseph and Elizabeth Sweet in the 1860 Philadelphia census: > > 1870 Philadelphia (Ward 20, District 66), 201 > > Joseph 'Sweets' 55 > William 15 > > There were no other family members listed.
