We have two new results in the Sweet DNA project, each being only the first half of the Y DNA test. You can see the results on the web page http://www.fairleafarm.harvard.ma.us/dnasweet.htm and the corresponding lineages on http://www.fairleafarm.harvard.ma.us/linsweet.htm As you can see, one tentatively matches the majority group, while the other does not. It is interesting to note that the non-matching result is from a test subject whose line goes back in modern times to Devon, which is widely believed to be the ancestral home of all English Sweets/Swetts. It is also interesting that this test subject comes closest to matching an American Sweet who has not yet been traced to any particular Colonial immigrant and who (until now, at least) has not matched any other testee. Stay tuned for the second halves of these results. If anybody knows other Sweets with modern ties to Devon, or to other locales in England, please pass the word about the project. John Chandler
