I'm related by marriage to the Sweets of Rhode Island, and there has been speculation that the various Sweets of Ontario originated in Rhode Island, but I don't think that's established. For that matter, there are a lot of Sweet lines in Rhode Island whose connections to the immigrant John Sweet are documented only poorly or not at all. The first indications from the DNA project suggest that most of the RI Sweets are indeed related, but we'll have to wait and see. John Chandler
