    3. unverified but maybe it will be a starting point. Shirley James was probably the son of David Sweet and Ethalanah Carpenter. He was a yeoman of Glocester. His will has not been traced, but Ethalanah's was proved on 27 July 1719; James was then of Cowesett, Rhode Island. http://home.att.net/~stevensweet/narrative.html (C) Copyright 1996-2000, . Daniel SWEET (983), b. abt 1681 the son of Philip SWEET (839) and Elizabeth ALLEN. Daniel m. Ethalannah (CARPENTER)(989) dau. of Timothy and Hannah (BURTON). Ethalannah b. abt 1690 and d. Dec. 1774. Their children were all born in Gloucester Rhode Island. Daniel's will dated Dec. 1734 mentions younger children. SOURCE: Salt Lake film #0385002, Descendants of John Sweet, Daniel was made freeman in Gloucester in 1708. He was Constable in the town of Providence in 1728; from records of Colonial Rhode Island vol. 4 pg. 38. He was married to Ethelannah Carpenter about 1702; from Vital records and Carpenter genealogy. Timothy Carpenter gave Daniel "power of Attorney" in the town of Providence in 1722/23, and in his will he mentions his grandson Philip Sweet. Daniel,(1299) b. abt 1720. He d. 25 Dec. 1732.
