Thomas Sweet d. after 11 July 1828 when he made his will and before 4 August 1828 when it was recorded, Fleming Co., KY. Thomas and Mary Sweet had seven known children as named in his will, i.e. Benjamin, Samuel, Joseph, James, Joshua, John N., and Mary Ann, wife of Aquilla Jones (Fleming Co., KY Wills and Estates, Vol. 2, by Charles M. Franklin, p. 31). Benjamin Sweet m. 20 November 1806 Fleming Co., KY Mary Ann Holmes (Fleming Co., KY Marriage Records, 1798-1851, n.p.) James Sweet m. 7 November 1822 Fleming Co., KY Jane Hughes (Fleming Co., KY Marriage Records, 1798-1851, n.p) Joshua Sweet m. 1822 Hannah Beckner (The DAR lineage of Clara Mae Sweet Gilmore (#123258) indicates that Thomas Sweet b. 1763 PA; d. 1828 Fleming Co., KY; m. 1876 Mary Neely. That he had a son Joshua Sweet who m. 1822 Hannah Beckner. That Joshua had a son Henry Sweet b. 1823; d. 1855; m. 1848 Elizabeth Duley b. 1821; d. 1853. That Henry Sweet had a son Charles Marchael Sweet b. 1852; d. 1896; m. 1883 Annie Lewis b. 1856; d. 1914. Further that Thomas Sweet served as a private in Capt. David Reed's Company, Washington Co., PA Militia.) Is there any proof that Benjamin (b. ca. 1740 VA) is the son of Timothy Sweet? Other list members believe Benjamin to be a descendent of Robert Sweet who was in Pennsylvania prior to the Revolution. It would be interesting to know what these two different conclusions are based upon. Do you know anything about Timothy or Robert? Like I said in my last message, most of the information I posted was new and I am still trying to verify. I will try to get more on Timothy.
