I live in Northeast Indiana. I am not a Sweet but my great grand mother was a Emma Cornelia Sweet. Her sister, Lucy Jane (aka Jennie), lived in Steuben County, IN in 1861. Her daughter was born there. Her husband George W. Purvis joined and fought in the Civil War from Steuben Co. He was wounded and later died of dysentery in a camp in Ohio. Jane Sweet Purvis was evidently living with her infant daughter in Cardington, Morrow County, OH near (or in) the home of her husband's family, in October 1863 and possibly in 1864. Jennie did not live in Indiana long, and the town she lived in has been renamed. I do not know why they moved to Indiana as her family was in Iowa (where they were married and his family in Ohio.
