They moved from Hartford, NY to Ticonderoga after 1816 where he bought a 200 acre tract of land in the Vineyard. Here he built the first squared log house in town. When this house was built, the old log barn across the road had already been built for some time, and many think it was one of General Burgoyne's outposts. The old house was occupied by several generations until destroyed by fire in 1927 Thye were still in Ticonderoga in 1830 and sometime later moved to Gouverneur, St Lawrence Co, NY where they lived out their days. William died Nov 7th 1854 and was buried in Wayside cemetery in Richville, NY. His wife Hannah continued to live on the farm beside her daughter Phebe (Sweet( Dewy until her death on Feb 10, 1868 and she wasburied beside her husband in Wayside cem. There is another grave, that of Philip Sweet who died Jan 1! 9, 1851 at the age of 82 yrs.
