Silas Sweet was born in Bradford, Vermont about 1777, married Mercy White in Bristol, Massachusetts January 1, 1820, lived in Bradford, Vermont until about 1830 when they returned to Massachusetts. The family moved to Illinois about 1840. Silas owned land in Greene County, Illinois, and appeared in the 1845 State Census in Madison County, Illinois. Mercy and some of the children are in the 1850 Madison County census but no Silas. Mercy disappeared and presumably died between 1850 and 1860. Believe their children are Emeline, Mary, Lafayette, Eliza, Maria, Lydia Ann, Benjamin and Andrew who are all in Illinois at some point but did not all come with their parents. Some of their families ended up in California. I would like to find date and place of death and hopefully even probate information for Silas and Mercy.
