    3. Hi Kathy, This is how I've sorted it out based on Arnold and Beaman. Elizabeth Sweet, dau. of Richard Sweet of West Greenwich, RI, m. 2 July 1746 Peter Wells, son of Jonathan Wells of East Greenwich. This Elizabeth and Peter both died September 1757, as did their second daughter, Sarah, all at East Greenwich. Elizabeth Sweet, dau. of William and Thankful Sweet, m. 11 December 1733 Peter Wells. Seven children, births recorded at West Greenwich. You'll also find land records pertaining to them in the course of your research. Peter WELLS In Arnold's records for East Greenwich, RI, there are two marriages for an Elizabeth SWEET to a Peter WELLS. SWEET: Elizabeth, and Peter Wells, m. 11 Dec. 1733 (3-165). SWEET: Elizabeth, and Peter Wells, m. 02 Jul. 1746 (3-146). Is this the same Elizabeth and the same Peter, and if so, why two different marriage dates so far apart, or were there two different Elizabeths and two different Peters. If so, who is the second Elizabeth the daughter of? I have that the first Elizabeth was the daughter of William and Thankful (Hamilton) Sweet. Thanks. Sweet of Richard m. Peter3 Wells of Jonathan: I have her as dau. of John4 Sweet, son of Richard3 Sweet; Peter3Wells' father Jonathan2 as son of Peter1 Wells. Eliz. Sweet of William4 Sweet: William's father was also Richard3 Sweet; this Peter3 was son of Thomas2, also a son of Peter1 Wells. That's the way I see it from here. I don't see the justification for ignoring the explicit statement of parentage in the original record. Elizabeth was said to be the daughter of Richard, not the granddaughter. How do you discount that? > Eliz. Sweet of William4 Sweet: William's father was ... Richard3 > Sweet; We all seem to agree on this one. John Chandler

    3. Hi Richard, Besides the evidence of the primary record as John noted, Elizabeth Sweet, dau. of John, son of Richard, was not married in 1754 when named in her mother's will. So she could not be the Elizabeth who was married in 1746. Good to hear from fellow Sweet researchers! Cyndi -----Original Message----- From: Richard L.
