T. Sweet, in Logan County, O., brother Joshua Sweet, in the seventy-ninth year of his age, and fifty-sixth year of his Christian pilgrimage, after an illness of three weeks. He was born in Pennsylvania, and in 1790 embraced religion and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, under the Rev. John Tucker, who was killed by the Indians on the Ohio river. Brother Sweet was a member of the first class formed in the state of Ohio. He has been more than half a century a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was firmly and affectionately attached to the Church of his choice, and was never heard to utter a single complaint against its ministry, doctrines, discipline, or usages. He was constant at the sanctuary and at the throne of grace, and the Bible was his daily companion for several of the last years of his life. Feeling that his work was done, he quietly waited for his change, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. His death was peaceful. His funeral sermon was preached by the Rev. S. P. Shaw, from 2 Timothy iv, 7, on the 16th of November. S. M. Beatty.
