Hi, Thanks for responding, I'm not quite sure when Sarah's parents moved there but it would have been around the same time. I think I may have her in the 1860 and 1870 census. There is a Sarah E. Sweet listed with another family in 1860 Washtenaw, MI as being born in NY and age 13. The family is Cornelius Parsons age 28, May age 26, and Edith age 2. There is a Ebenezer Sweet, wife Margaret listed in the 1850 Washtenaw, MI census with a Elizabeth age 2. This Ebenezer has a son named Franklin age 10, I was thinking that maybe since they named a son Frank, this could be her. The only problem is that Margaret the mother was listed as being born in NY and on one of the census records with her husband, she listed that her mother was born in Pa (I know that they are not always correct). I was thinking that maybe Fred and Eliza. Toney's daughter Minnie may have been named after Margaret, which I believe is a nickname for Margaret? The only other person listed with them in the 1850 census is a Rebecca Sweet age 36. I'll have to do some more investigating, but if any of these names look familiar to anyone, please let me know. Thanks again, Michelle
I know of a William Sweet born in Canada in 1839. Bonnie

So I am looking for the antecedents of William Sweet, born March 25, 1815 in New York, whose parents were also born in the US. The next news we have on him is that he got married in Canada in 1839 and we know quite a bit about him after that.

According to the 1900 census they state that they were married about 1869 (31 yrs). I haven't found any marriage record for them either. The only other thing that I was told was that she may have been born in Elmira, NY, but I checked the 1850 census for Elmira and didn't find her listed with any Sweets there. That's about all I know, except that Fred Toney was born in Germany and he lists that he came to America about 1848ish with his family. He was born about 1833. Michelle

She went by the name Elizabeth. In the 1880 Census they are listed as Stoney, but she lists her father as being born in NY and mother as being born in PA. I was looking in the 1880 census and found a John S. Sweet born about 1848 in NY and was in Ingham, MI a couple of pages down from the Toneys. His wife was Livonia age 23. Anyway to make a long story short I was wondering if by chance if anyone out there has any info on the Sweets in Delhi, Ingham, Michigan area around 1850-1900. Thanks in advance for any info and any help received, Michelle (Sparenberg) Gonzles
Thanks Michelle, That's not them -- but I had looked closely at that family also because there is some similarity with names and Henry's age. But mine were born in St Neot, Cornwall -- and the rest of the family doesn't really match up. However, I should mention also that this Henry Sweet had 1 sister and 7 brothers. The sister (Patty) went to NZ, one brother (Daniel) stayed in Cornwall, one (Joseph)went to Devon, -- leaving William, John, Thomas, Charles and David for whom I haven't been able to account. (All born St Neot, Cornwall, bet 1813-abt 1828 to William Sweet and Mary (Ede) Sweet). They may have died or -- as far as I know, one or more of them may have come to the US in that 1840-60 period. To further complicate matters though -- there is a different (not related at least for a few generations back) Sweet family from St Neot that was also emigrating to the US. But, in any case, I am also interested if any one has a Cornwall born Sweet from that period that they can't trace, or knowledge about any of those brothers. And, of course, -- I'm still wondering where Henry's family was in 1850 Thanks! Dawn __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
