If you are still in touch with living male Sweets from the Ontario line(s), it would be good to pass on the word to them about the Sweet family DNA project. Even if they themselves are not much interested in genealogy, I imagine they could be persuaded to join the project by relatives who ARE interested. There has been a good deal of speculation on the origins of the Ontario Sweets, and the DNA project offers the prospect of establishing whether or not they are related to the Rhode Island Sweets. We currently have four results posted on the web site http://www.fairleafarm.harvard.ma.us/dnasweet.htm plus one more that just arrived (and matches 12/12 with two of the four already posted), and there are four more in the pipeline. HELP!!?? Have been trying to locate information on my maternal grandmother PEAR MAE (ENLOW) SWEET. She married a WILLIAM RILEY SWEET (b.1876, Wayne County,KY.) on September 29, 1924 in Louisville, Kentucky. He died sometime between 1928-1931. His parents: JOHN & SALLIE (SMITH) SWEET. Know nothing else about him. She was still 'SWEET' when I lost her paper trail in August of 1934 in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was supposed to have died sometime between 1934-1948, but I don't know when, where or how. Have not been able to locate a death certifcate under the name Sweet, so I'm thinking she must have remarried before she died???? Her maiden name was Enlow (parents -John & Rebecca (Chambers) Enlow. Born @ 1897, Georgia. Part Cherokee?? Know nothing more about her parents or siblings. Pearl's marriages found so far: Stanfield in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Tobinski in Chicago, Illinois and then Sweet in Kentucky. One living child, Ettie Louise Tobinski, b.1919 d.1965 (my mother) States I've tracked her in: Georgia, Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky. sigh...I'm pooped! Is there any way to find out if she remarried in those lost years and where I can find her grave??? Would love to know more information about her and hoping someone on the list can help.
