My line comes through his daughter Etta, who went by Marietta. The 1850 census of Boonville has Caleb's father, Caleb Sr., then 89 years old, living with him. Caleb Sr. says his birthplace is MA. I wish I had more info on Sr and his wife Sally. Is the youngest child of Caleb Jr & Esther Roger or Rutger? I've seen both. Also, do you have any info on where Caleb Sr, Sally, Caleb Jr or his siblings are buried? Thanks so much, Kristin Grip

Lyman, the son of Lyman R. and Amelia (Carlisle) Sweet, was born 28 March 1879 in Bryan, Williams County, OH. He married Verna Millard 9 January 1898 in Dayton Township, Newaygo County, MI. I have been told that Lyman and Verna had six children. I also have been told that Lyman passed away prior to 1931 in Little Rock, Pulaski County, AR. Any help in locating these descendants will greatly be appreciated.

Does anyone know who Silas SWEET who was in Franklin County, VT in 1870 was the son of? In 1880, he was living in Jay, Orleans County, VT, with his brother Harlow SWEET. I have no idea of who either of them were. In 1880, Silas was a widower, and he had several children - Emma, 16, Cora, 11, Elizabeth, 9, Minnie, 7, Etta, 5, Wallace, 4, and Arthur, aged 2. His brother, Harlow, was also a widower. According to the census, both Harlow and Silas were widowers. Thanks. Kathy Campbell

My Sweet line starts with an unknown Sweet marrying Evaline "Hollingsworth ?" about 1859/1860 in Indiana. Their first son, Hiram L. Sweet, was born about 1861 in Indiana. He married Fannie A. Brown on Oct. 20, 1886 in Benton County MO. One of their children were born Aug. 25, 1887 in Roscoe, St. Clair County MO. Their second son Ira W. Sweet was born about 1863 in Iroquois County, Illinois. He married Sarah Price(Pricie) Lear about 1884, probably in St. Clair County MO. Their only child Eva Grace (Gracie) Sweet was born May 11, 1885 in St. Clair County MO. Ira dies a young man> 1885, <1888 in KS. or MO. The third child, Eunice Sweet was born about 1866 in Warren or Warsaw County Indiana. She married John H. Lear in MO (Benton Co.?). Evaline, now widowed, moved to California with Eunice & John. Hiram is thought to be there also in the Los Angeles Area. Evaline passed away Jan. 27, 1914 in Imperial County, CA. Is anyone out there familiar with this Sweet Line? Rick Eklund

I show Lydia Sweet, b. 4 May 1816 daughter of Thomas Sweet and Lydia (Unknown). Married Nov 1837 to Truman Hopkins in Wellsboro, N. Y. Lydia died 24 May 1895 in N.Y. The only thing I have on Thomas Sweet is that he was living in Virgil, Courtland County, N. Y. I have no idea who Frederick Sweet is or how he connects to Thomas or Lydia. Not much help I fear. Dorcas first married George Clark and had a daughter Sophia W. Clark in 1825 in Rensselaer Co NY, and a son Henry. George died young and Dorcas married Elijah Lake and moved to Lyons Wayne County NY. Sophia W. Clark married William Dunn in Lyons in 1842. Elijah and Dorcas appear to be living in Seneca County NY Romulus and Junius from 1830 to 1842 when they moved to Wyandot County Ohio. It appears that Junius and Lyons are only about 10 miles apart. Elijah Jr born in NY abt1832, daughter Ann Lake abt 1834 is listed in death cert. as being born in Lyons, but Census shows them living in Romulus and Junius Seneca Co NY, Catherine Celesta born abt 1839, Eleanor abt 1841 and Mary the last child was born in Ohio abt 1848. If anyone sees anything familiar please let me know. Would they have listed the closest town as place of birth even if it was in another county? Dorcas Sweet on! every census lists her parents as being born in NY. Just a theory but Dorcas was probably born in Ren. co or Albany co NY. Dorcas died in Oct 1887. Thanks,Kim

I saw this posting on the Sweet Discussion List. I checked my HANDYBOOK FOR GENEALOGISTS and it says that the Clerk of District Court for Guthrie Co., (in Grundy Center, Iowa) where your Nephi Sweet died in 1903 has birth & death records from 1880. Perhaps you've already tried that route?? If not, the phone number is 515-747-3415. His death cert. might include his parents names.
