There are always two ways to approach a problem like this: studying the known ancestors to look for clues to their origins, or studying a large collection of people with the same surname in hopes of finding a trail down to the known. The second approach is usually a measure of desperation that people turn to when the first approach doesn't seem to be working. I should add here that I have some Sweets in PA, but they aren't named Walter or Adrian. However, there is now a technique for narrowing down the focus of the survey approach and turning it into a practical alternative. If you get a male Sweet from your line to join the Sweet DNA project, you can discover whether any of the other Sweets in the project are related to you. Knowing where to look can be a big help in finding what you need. You can see the results from the project so far at http://www.fairleafarm.harvard.ma.us/dnasweet.htm John Chandler

You might want to checkout the Kansas Pioneer List. http://skyways.lib.ks.us/kansas/genweb/pioneers/piolst_s.html However, 1700' s is pretty early for Kansas. Kansas was part of the Louisiana Purchase when it became annexed to the United States in 1803. It was included in the Missouri Territory until 1821. For 33 years it was known as an unorganized territory, inhabited mainly by Indians. For many years there was constant trouble between the Indians and the settlers, until the Indians were gradually pushed into the Oklahoma area. Fort Leavenworth became the first community in the area in 1827. Yvonne http://www.rootsweb.com/~daisy/sweet.htm

He died in 1863 in Cleveland. As far as I have been able to determine they had one son that lived to adulthood, Charles Henry who lived and died in Rocky River. Charles Henry married Lucy May Sebron. In the 1900 Census, their children were: Permelia, Sadie, Elnora, Julia, Benjamin, Edith, Verna & Wilbur. I understand that the Sweet family in Ohio is large but I haven't found any additional family members so I don't know if there is a connection at this stage.
