    3. Hi Listers: Here are some SWEENYs from the 1861 Census at St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada sent to me by a kind board member of St. Catherines Historical Society: p 43 SWEENY, John John - 40y b. Ire. wife Ellen - 40 b Ire, children - Mary 5 and Ellen 3 both born Canada West p57 SWEENY, John John T. - 61 b.Ire. wife-Bridget 44 b. Ire. Hannah b. Ire. Johnnah 15 b Ire. p60 - SWEENY, John John T. 60 b Upper Canada 1870 U.S.CENSUS -PENNSYLVANIA The SWEENYs I'm researching were in Conyngham, Columbia Co., PA at the 1870 Census,pg# 39 & 40. All were listed as native of Ireland, but I later found that the children were born in Canada. > John 50 Laborer at mines > Catherine 48 Keeping house > John 14 work at mines > Mannes 12 work at mines > James 9 > Michael 7 > Bridget 3 Catherine Sweeny McDonald, who married Patrick McDonald about 1860, was the oldest child of John and Catherine. Widowed most likely in 1868 since the youngest child on the 1870 Census is 2 years old. I assume there may have been other adult children of the older Sweenys who may have come to Columbia County or PA to work in the coal mines during that time. > Catherine 31 keeping house birthplace: Ireland > Patrick 9 at home PA > Daniel 6 " PA > **John 4 PA > 1871 - Marriage - St. Ignatuis Church, Centralia > Also, Catherine Sweeny McDonald married James Brennan at St. Ignatius > Church on the 15th of August 1871 by Rev D.
