Bernard Sweeney, born in County Cavan, Ireland perhaps in about 1830. He emigrated to America, probably in the late 1840s or early 1850s. He lived in Cambria County, Pennsylvania (western Pennsylvania near Johnstown) at the time of the 1860 census, then in 1864 moved to northeastern Iowa where he lived in Buchanan then Chickasaw counties. He died in York, Nebraska in 1906 and is buried in New Hampton, Iowa, next to his wife Elizabeth and their daughter, Ann Jane. Ann Jane was born about 1853. Other children were Mark, born about 1855 and Mary, born about 1857
