Hi. I have just joined Sweeney-L with the hope of finding some information on my Sweeney realitives. My Sweeney's are from Limerick County, Ireland. My Greatgrandfather Thomas Sweeney b. 1860 d.1930 had a large farm in a village called Fahnliane in Castlemahon parish (not far from Newcastle West). He married Ellen Quirke b.1878 d.1920, the daughter of a Protestant Minister from England. They had 10 children. Catherine (married name Reidy) was my Grandmother, she was born in 1896 and died in 1982. Her brothers and sisters were: Delia (Holmes), Joan (Leahy), Ann (Phelan), Michael, William, Molly (O'Connell), Ellen (Buckley), Elizabeth and Ita.
