I am searching for information on my gg grandfather, Jasper Sweeny. Jasper has been a dead end for some time. The first and only document I have found with his name is a court record in Arkansas County Arkansas in 1867. This is a record of his application for legal guardianship of my gg grandmother's minor children by a previous marriage. He apparently married my gg grandmother (Lucille Nady Menard Sweeny) after 1860 but before 1867. My gg grandmother, Lucille Nady, had first married Francis Menard in Arkansas after arriving from France around 1844 or 1845. The 1870 Federal Census list my gg grandmother as Lucille Sweeny with son Oliver Sweeny (my great grandfather). In this census Lucille is shown as a widow. Family legend is that Oliver drifted in and drifted out. While this is possible, I have no proof either way. I have not been able to find a marriage record or other document to verify their marriage or his death in Arkansas County or any other surrounding county. If anyone has information or any suggestions, I would be very appreciative.
