Searching for information on the family of Edmund and Ellen McSweeney who operated a grocery in the Kerry Patch neighborhood of St. Louis in the 1860s and possibly up to the late 1870s. I believe that they are the parents of Miles McSweeney, born 1860 in Missouri. Miles McSweeney married Ellen Scollard about 1878 and they had a large family -- but only five children lived to adulthood. All but one of the children changed their name to Sweeney (Mary, Sara, Edward and Michael). A son, Myles McSweeney, kept the old spelling and moved to Jackson Michigan. Sons Edward and Michael died before 1911. Mary (aka May) married Ed Podgen and remained in St. Louis. Sara (aka Sadie) married Charles Miller and also stayed in St. Louis. Miles vanished before 1894. Ellen Scollard McSweeney died in 1894 of TB. Children entered orphan asylums or convents or were left to relatives including a family in New York City. Looking for any information or connection to this family. Ken Hartke

Hi all! On the line of Moses Sweeney and Elizabeth Johnson, of Lincoln County, I got the page back up on them at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~rosamili go to Sweeney link It is just a brief history of them, and then a link to all of their children. And today I added the children of two of those children. Will try to get up all the children I have by doing one or two a week. May go on from there, if you all have things to add. Like on the Son of John, Marion, I added his picture. There is also one of his sister but it was made off of a cheap copier, before the good ones came out. If anyone has anything to add, please let me know. I will be happy to put it up their with a reference to you, or to link to you from my site. Christen Rosamilia Line of John and Sarah Hall who had Sarah Frances who married James Stevens Stallings (this line ended up involved with the Phillips and Peaks of the Nelson, Washington and Marion County areas, if you are wondering)

Still seeking Washington L. Sweeney and Redmond McManus Sweeney. I've got more info this time around. The 1860 Rock Island IL census list the following: Washington L Sweeney age 33 from DE (Sussex Co?) (1827) Amelia A (Robb)Sweeney 32 PA (1828) Redmond M 9 PA (1851) Wm E 5 IL (1855) Marian Edw 1 IL (1859) Edw D (Bro to Washington?) 26 PA (1834) Didn't find on the 1870 census but found Redmond in the 1880 census. Sweeney's connected with the Johns(t)son and Cain's of Rock Island. Does this ring a bell with anyone out there in la la land. Redmond is my G grandfather and he married Matilda Johnson. Not many Sweeney's in the Delaware census index due to being a really small state...maybe easy to track. There is a Timothy Sweeney Rev War Patriot from Delaware? Diane Nelson Stewart
