I'm searching for the origin of Benjamin Sweeney who left a will in Franklin Co VA in 1823. It named wife Elizabeth and kids Joel, Jonathan Ann and Rebecca Moore. He lived near an Edmond Sweeney, who owned land in Henry Co VA before Franklin was formed from part of Henry (1786), but I cannot connect the two; Ed did not leave any of his land to Benjamin that I could find. Thanks for any info KAren Worley
Still searching for Edmund McSweeney who lived in St. Louis, Missouri from about 1860 until his death in 1869. I don't know his age or birth place but he was born in Ireland. I believe he married Ellen Moran in St. Louis. They had one son named Miles McSweeney (who may have used the name Jerry) who was born in St. Louis around 1861. I believe he died in New York around 1910-1915 and worked for a newspaper or some type of publisher. Ellen Moran McSweeney moved to New York City in the 1890s. Miles married Ellen Scollard who died in 1894. Some of Miles' children were placed in an orphanage in Little Falls NY or in a St. Louis convent/orphanage. Ken
Hi All: The list is awlfully quite!! Everybody islisting, so lets get some activity started. Why not each of you submit a request for info on a particular individual and and lets all check our files to see what we can come up with. Here's mine: I am trying to connect John T Swiney (sometimes spelled Swinea) born 1818, probably in Lincoln county Tennessee with a James Swinea who also lived in Lincoln co TN during this period. I know that one James was the father of Sion, Simeon and possibly William Swinea who show as early as 1829 in Lincoln county. Lets hear from you? Claudie Swiney list admin.
Hi Listers: I'm searching for any information on John and Catherine Sweeny who came to Pennsylvania's Columbia County, we believe, after the civil war. Daughter Catherine Sweeny, my great grandmother, married Patrick McDonald about 1861 and was widowed with four children by the 1870 census. She married James Brennan in 1871 and lived in Centralia, Columbia County, PA until her death shortly before the turn of the century. Anyone else have Sweeny/Sweeney who emigrated from Canada to Pennsylvania's coal mining district? Rita
