    1. [SWEDEN] Information about Luffars
    2. Carol Larson
    3. I posted this request earlier in the week and I did not get a reply so I am trying to send it again. When I do a search I only come up with movie titles, so I must not be asking the right questions, so here goes again. Can someone please help me with more information about Luffars. I don't know where to look for more information (like a Swedish resource in English.) I understand they were the "vagabond" (tramp) who traveled from farm to farm doing odd jobs and making repairs. They also made things out of wire (like wire baskets and wisks.) Where did they live? Did they have families? How did they get into that line of work? I have heard older Swedes talk about seeing them when they were young. Thanks so much for any information. Carol in KY

Some pages in Swedish, perhaps you can use Google translate: http://www.popularhistoria.se/artiklar/luffarna-–-vagarnas-vagabonder/ http://www.luffarmuseum.se/luffare.htm en luffare = one vagabond flera luffare = several vagabonds luffaren = the vagabond luffarna = the vagabonds // Bo Johansson

    3. Bo, Thank you so much for the link. Yes, that was the connect to the Museum and now it is time to work on my translations. I had visited the museum several years ago and I knew it was in the Kingdom of Glass area but were Luffarna all over Sweden or only in Småland? Thanks again, Carol in KY -----Original Message----- From: Bo Johansson <bo.h.johan56@telia.com> To: sweden <sweden@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sat, Oct 27, 2012 10:47 am Subject: Re: [SWEDEN] Information about Luffars Carol Larson wrote 2012-10-27 10:21: > > When I do a search I only come up with movie titles, so I must not be > asking the right questions, so here goes again. > > Can someone please help me with more information about Luffars. > I don't know where to look for more information (like a Swedish resource > in English.)
