Is this emmigration information available on-line? I have a Sarah Bratten who was born Sept 23, 1869 according to records I have. But that was not her name when she was born. According to what I have, her name may have been Sigrid Olsson, born to Olof Olson and Marit Bengson and they may have been from a farm(?) in the V?rmland area although my records have it spelled as "Wermland" which I was told was really Varmland in pronounciation. Then farm(?) may have been called Brattmon(?). She ended up in North Dakota married to a Hans Hanson, then ultimately in Maryland. I have been able to find this area on a map of Sweden, but have not spent any real time yet investigating what is available on-line. She would probably have come to the US in the 1890's, maybe the latter part as my grandfather, her son, was born in 1900. Thank you for any direction. Hej Cindy - Many emigrants from Värmland left through Norwegian ports, and the Norwegian records are available for free online at http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebFront.exe?slag=vis&tekst=meldingar&spraak=e. You may be able to find her there. I took a quick look for her on the Emihamn database on the Emigrant CD, which contains records from mostly Swedish ports (plus a few from Copenhagen and Hamburg), but could not find her. I think the odds are pretty good that she left from a Norwegian port. Hope this helps - Mark Johnson Oconomowoc, Wisconsin Ysearch/Mitosearch 3VP37 On 08-Oct-12 10:38 AM, Naomi Swanson wrote: > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Cynthia E. These inherited records are so fouled up: Adolph Engstrom is b. 1854 (at what appears to be an error...Verna Socken) of Östergötland, Sweden and his wife, Anna Lindgren born in 1851 in Ånge, Västernorrland, Sweden immigrated to the U.S. The couple's son, August Samuel Engstrom b. 27 Oct 1876 in Sweden states he immigrated in 1879. I'm wondering if anyone can straighten out this mess by providing information about Adolph and Anna and each the parents of each individual. Once the correct people and places are identified I should be able to find other ancestors. Thanks very much. Yvonne
