Martin I have gone over everything that I have on Peter Mattson (Mattsson). He is not the Peter Mattsson you referenced having died 16 Feb 1889. My Peter came to the U.S. between 1850 and 1860 with his mother Katarina Andersdotter. His birth record lists Mattes Pärsson and Katatina Andersdotter as his parents.. His birth was 29 Nov 1833 Rölanda Älvsborg. He is listed on the 1870 U.S. for New Boston Mercer County Illinois. I could not find a birth record for the Peter Mattsson you found. According to the HFL you referenced he was suppose to have been born 23 Oct 1833 in Rölanda Älvsborg. There is no birth record for that date. I wonder if it is possible that there were 2 Peter Mattssons in Rölanda.
