    3. I was using ArkivDigital today and I noticed on the Västrum [Kalmar] Congregational Records AIIa:2 (1901-1905) i.3970/p.387 line 6 for Johan Emil Andersson, column 15 (Värnpligtsförhållanden) there is the notation “80 115/01.” Can anyone tell me what this means? Thanks, Bob Lightburn

    3. My grand father Alfrid Nilsson, came from Kalmar, Vimmerby, Vena Parish. He emigrated to Euclid, Minnesota around 1879. Where should I look for his emigration? It means he was conscript number 80 in company area 115 in 1901. (Värnpligtsförhållanden = military conscription circumstances) Company area 115 was 1886-1901 Gripsholm's company area of Södermanland's regiment. http://hhogman.se/inskrivningsomraden.htm#Inskrivningsområden_1886_-_1901 That is a little strange, first that he was in the Södermanland regiment, second that it was as late as 1901. One explanation could be that he was a regular soldier until 1901, and got the conscript number when he was discharged. Swedish Census 1900 has only one Johan Emil born 1877 in Lofta, and he is a Guards soldier: Anderson, Johan Emil Gardist b. 1877 in Lofta (Kalmar län, Småland) Boy 5:te Skvadron Hedvig Eleonora rote 20 (Stockholms stad, Uppland) Kyrkobokföringsort: Lifgardet till Häst ----------------------------------- // Bo Jhansson

    3. Thanks, Bo. This gives me a lot of new information on one of my Swedish cousins. I think that I speak for everyone on this list when I say what a tremendous help you have been to those of us tracing our Swedish ancestors and other relatives. Thanks, again.
