Hi Lafe, Well, I think that I would start with the Household Examination records for Vimmerby ca 1879. Do you know your grandfather's date of birth? If so, I could take a look on ArkivDigital when I get to our Family History Center (FHC) on Friday. Or, perhaps you could do it. Do you have a LDS FHC nearby? If so, they should have access to ArkivDigital. He emigrated to Euclid, Minnesota around 1879. Where should I look for his emigration? I was off on his birth date. Alfrid Nilson Name change to Alfred Nelson It is 15 OCT 1867 in Kalmar, Vimmerby, Vena Parish. In 1885 at age 20 he left for America. Destination Euclid, Minnesota or South Dakota. I think the Carl Nelson in Euclid (probably an Uncle) is related because my father is Carl Elof Nelson. There is a Stake about 15-20 miles from here. I will have to call to see what days they are open.
