I took the March 13 1743 date off the birth record that I had found quite a while back. I only just noticed the death record. The birth date is also consistent with his record on Centrala Soldatregistret http://www.ep.liu.se/databases/soldatregister/dbrecord.en.aspx?id=856840 Then on a whim I searched his regiment and file Norra Fredskog 1, and found what I think is the same person different name but same File number except for the year. Ohla Utter but with no birth data. The earlier Generalmönsterrullor for 1770 is showing as Vacant so 75 is the first one for him. UTTER Ohla Family name: - Birth date: - Death date: - Enlisted: 1771 Discharged: 1772 File number: SH-01-0054-1771 Regiment: Skånska Husarregementet File: Norra Fredskog 1 Company: Livkompaniet Parish: Farstorp Croft Number: SH-01-0054 Also, as no family name is mentioned, is it possible that Modig was his father’s name and it carried through? This would eliminate Mans Olsson as a father (maybe). There is also “some” who “believe” that Hjellaröd rather than Ravnahalla is where he was born. I haven’t found anything there yet. As for his quick advance in years, his death in 1800 shows he was 57. One possibility is that the parents had another son soon, and named him Ola. Or that your Ola was born elsewhere, to different parents... > > His military record is below and I have tracked from enlistment to death. > What I can’t see is if there is any indication of what his family name or > birth name was. According to the age recorded he should be born about 1745. The 1801 muster roll tells that Ohla Modig in Nödarp died 15 Dec 1800, age 66, had served 28 years. According to the age recorded he should be born about 1735. The 1779 muster roll gives his age as 35, so born about 1744. The 1787 muster roll gives his age as 43, so born about 1744. But in 1791 he has suddenly aged to 57 years, born about 1734! // Bo Johansson
